Aspen Locavore

Aspen locals Betsy Fifield, Kate Linehan and Candace Cross are launching the “Aspen Locavore” challenge this fall. The 40-day endeavor is inspired by what they believe are staggeringly low statistics regarding local food sourcing nationwide. The women are attempting to raise community awareness of this issue through social media and community campaigns. From August 22 to September 30, the Aspen Locavores will track their experiences as they attempt to incorporate more locally sourced food into their diets, bringing their own perspectives and approaches to the project. Their goals include identifying the obstacles to local food accessibility from infrastructure and cost perspectives. Keep up with the group’s progress as they share stories on food-related topics and Aspen area events beginning in June at AspenLocavore.com.
