Today’s chefs have a powerful voice when it comes to creating awareness about food sourcing and security. Colorado residents Sara Brito, a culinary industry and advertising veteran, and her co-founder Jeff Hermanson, the CEO of developing firm Larimer Associates, have launched Good Food 100 Restaurants, a national rating system that measures the impact of chefs and restaurants on regional food systems and economies. Any restaurant may participate by filling out an online survey, which is audited by an independent third party. The results are analyzed, resulting in ratings. “Good food” is defined as that which is good for all links in the sourcing chain, from producer to table. Brito’s goal is to create greater transparency in the hospitality sector of our food supply. Visit GoodFood100Restaurants.org for more information and to participate in the survey.
