The Cook's Tarot by Judith Mackay Stirt

For the Tarot-minded lover of food comes The Cook’s Tarot, a new 78-card Tarot deck with hand-painted images on cards that revolve around culinary themes.

“It is a deck designed to bring awareness into the daily preparation of food. We have to eat to live,” says author Judith Mackay Stirt in an interview on TarotCanada.org. “If we are mindful about this daily task, I believe that we bring a depth and dimension into our lives that not only nourishes the body, but the soul.”

The Empress from The Cook's Tarot

Mackay Stirt says she conceived the idea from her childhood in Jamaica, where the family cook played an integral role not only in eating but in entertaining. She lives in British Columbia now, but has never forgotten those times. She spent four years at her kitchen table painting the cards and writing the accompanying guide, which provides a sophisticated understanding of Tarot Archetypes and philosophy.
