Why We Love It: On the cutting edge of Colorado’s “farm-to-keg” movement is this multi-generational, family-owned and -operated hops farm and brewery. The Weakland family—patriarch Pat was an avid homebrewer—started growing 54 varieties of hops in 2006; in 2012 he and son Zach started High Hops Brewery. In between shopping for homebrewing supplies in the garden shop, slip into the tasting room for offerings like The Honeyed One. Aged 12 months in bourbon barrels, this American red ale made with Nugget hops and honey malt starts sweet on the palate, with hints of raspberry, vanilla and oak.
