Capitol idea
Willits is becoming livelier with the opening of the Valley’s second location of Mezzaluna, and the debut of Capitol Creek Brewery. The latter—a true neighborhood brewpub just steps from the Element hotel—is owned by former Highlands Alehouse partner Bill Johnson. The stylishly rustic interior is outfitted with cleverly repurposed materials like snow fencing, corrugated metal siding and boxcar flooring, and will feature an upscale pub menu. Using locally sourced ingredients “whenever possible,” there will be an emphasis on housemade charcuterie, preserves and condiments, and robust, seasonally inflected salads. Brewmaster Jerod Day has crafted a diverse profile of seasonal and year-round beers, from Oatmeal Stout and IPA to English Mild Ale. CapitolCreekBrewery.com
