DIY Yogurt Recipe
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT: stockpot, candy or instant-read thermometer, glass jars and lids
You don’t have to stop shaving your legs or acquire backyard chickens to become the kind of person who makes their own yogurt. Yougurt has long been touted as a health food—as it should be: Hello, calcium and probiotics. A caveat: Most commercially available flavored yogurts contain as much sugar, ounce for ounce, as a Coca-Cola, so look for versions without high-fructose corn syrup or other added sweeteners. Yogurts that contain live cultures further maximize the nutritional and digestive benefits, but for the most bang for your buck, it’s better to make your own.
