Local Coffee House opened last February and it’s already become a gathering spot for local creatives (in addition to housing its own tiny gallery, it shares space with housewares/artisan goods shop Maker + Place). Entrepreneur Michaela Carpenter owns both businesses, while Carbondale roaster Lance Norton oversees the coffee program. Pastries from Franck Thirion French Pastry, Sweet ColoraDough doughnuts and wholesome housemade breakfast and lunch items priced under $10 also make Local an appealing stop. Public events featuring guest speakers, film screenings and more are part of Carpenter’s long-term goal to build community and support the arts. Visit LocalCoffeeAspen.com for more information.
