Info for Living
Another pandemic-born project, the Aspen Dining Sourcebook is a physical dining guide that incorporates a technology, similar to a QR code, to give readers the most up-to-date and relevant information on local restaurants. Scanning a restaurant’s proprietary Flowcode with a smartphone camera brings up a browser page with links to its website, menu, online ordering info, and social media pages.
Organic farmer Lynn Gillespie, owner of The Living Farm in Paonia, has published an e-book, High Performance Gardening, that collects her insights of over 30 years of gardening. Intended for gardeners of all levels, this book offers keys to weed-free gardening, soil biology, large yields in small areas, and more. Gillespie also recommends The Grow System, by her friend Marjory Wildcraft, which promises a comprehensive guide to modern, self-sufficient living by growing food and making medicine. And in The Nation of Plants, plant neurobiologist Stefano Mancuso presents eight pillars on which the lives of plants—and the humans who depend on them—are built, and argues for the importance of curbing climate change to properly coexist with plant life.
