Root & Vine Market (photo) in Paonia welcomed diners with a new menu in April 2023. Offering seasonally inspired dishes alongside coffee, wine, and handmade goods, this is the perfect spot to visit for an authentic taste of Paonia. In the Paonia Community Kitchen, local bakery Mountain Oven hosts a weekly pop-up shop on Fridays from 8 to 11 a.m., serving fresh bread, pastries, and other goodies. After its grand reopening last summer, nido continues to serve up imaginative Mexican comfort food. Visit the restaurant and marketplace on Grand Avenue or find the food truck throughout the North Fork Valley in summer. At The Storm Cellar Winery in Hotchkiss, chef Joe Kerns hosts Friday Steak Nights featuring locally raised, never-frozen, wood-fired steaks, served alongside some of the valley’s best produce from 4 to 7 p.m. through the fall. The winery also hosts chef Brandt Bishop for a selection of seasonally focused small plates on the first and third Saturday of each month, from 2 to 6 p.m. stormcellarwine.com
