Local chef and businesswoman Mawa McQueen opened her third valley restaurant, Mawita, in December 2022 at the Collective in Snowmass Base Village. The restaurant’s seasonal menu serves Latin-inspired plates from burritos and tortas to sopas and quesadillas. Stop in for lunch, après, or dinner during the week and on the weekend for brunch. Just up the Skittles gondola on the Snowmass Mall, The Tavern celebrated its opening on July 4, 2023. Taking over the former Slow Groovin spot, The Tavern (photo above) is a one-stop hangout offering ski-town staples like nachos, soup, burgers, and sandwiches to munch on over a game of pool or trivia or while enjoying a concert or comedy show.
